Meshing Assignment 01
DUE DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 2008
ASSIGNMENT: Create a parametric model of a small scale architectural Element (i.e. Furniture, Curtain wall Connection)
REQUIREMENTS: Please do not focus on the precision of the model but rather focus your attention to adding parameters to the design elements of the object that you chose to model. Simple examples can include the bend in an ant chair as well as the radius on the legs, the height or the chair. These are simple yet these parameters will work well to understand the benefits and complexities of parametric modeling.
PRESENTATION: Please post your files to the Design ReForm forum for this class. Each student is to post images (JPG or GIF) of the model being “flexed” as well as a 3d model (max of maya) on the DesignReForm web site. In the posting please add a brief description of the model and how it is intended to be used.
Meshing Assignment 02
DUE DATE: MARCH 07, 2008
ASSIGNMENT: A parametric design model. The scale can range from an architectural component, building envelope or building massing. This can either be a continuation of the first assignment or a new project. The Idea is to create a design systems that allows forquick yet focused iterations of a design.
REQUIREMENTS: (1) Create a system that can produce at least 4 version of your design idea. (2) Models must contain a minimum of 2 referenced or instanced systems (not just simple propagation but referenced systems). (3) Model must contain a minimum of 2 systems with relationships to other geometry in the model, or driven with wire parameters.
PRESENTATION: Please post your files to the Design ReForm forum for this class. if you chose to make a model, please post photos. It is required that each student prepare a PDF presentation explaining their respective systems. The presentation must contain a Text description, rendered images, and diagrams explaining the relationships within the system.
