Description : This tutorial covers how to make face based families, change a family category, and make voids. face based families are pretty handy for a few reasons. A big one though is that they do delete when you erase the host object (this is not the case with wall based and floor based) Also they are easy to move around, re-host and rotate.
Hey Dave Great tutorials man, i love ur work.
Um i was just wondering, i have started to explore more with revit families, and customs curtain panels etc. The other day i came across this pic of a skyscraper and wondered how to create the circular panels on the outside of the building. Maybe through a custom curtain wall panel or through a wall based family like u did there. If u got any tips i would love to know about them. THe link for the image is listed below, cheers Andy.

For now you would have to do a faced based family and manually place them. I would play with using a hexagon or octagon as reference lines within the face based Family. This way you can use those for aligning family to family.
I’ll try and cook up a video on this.
Thanks for the feedback,
Dave
Hahah that’s funny as i was just playing around with hexogon roof panels, kinda like the ones in the water cube. Yeah circles are difficult with reference planes etc. I have been playin around with circular sweeps on a curtain wall panel, i’ll guess i’ll see how it works out.
Your an absolute legend, sweet stuff. Hopefully when i get out of school i can study as an architect!
Cheers

Hi, I look for the tutorial before this where they were made in vain in different ways on a curved wall, the video was removed or relocated to another site, if you can please help me find him or whether someone can send them to my mail capitan25 @ gmail. com.
Thank you
Hi,
first of all, thx Dave for your tuts. I really like them and learn a lot.
And the skyscraper pic is very funny. I know this crossroad, it’s not far from where I live. By now there is another (more simple) building.
