Description : Although a little jumpy, this tutorial covers using a line based family to make a parametric awning. As the line is drawn longer you get more awning members. It covers using formulas in families as well as nesting one family in another. I’ll probably make this again but for now it should work.

Each time I make my family and I try to add the Max_Spacing command I get “Can’t find solution for formulas for Type ‘ ‘.” error message. I have tried it with everything set as Instance Parameters except the max_spacing- which I set as Type. that didnt work. So i tried setting everything as Instance parameters and that did not work either. It seems in your tutorial right before you add the formulas the video skips. Is there a step in there I am missing?
I have the same problem as Katy. Any suggestions?

Hey Steve, I got mine to work finally. There is a step in the beginning that you cant see on the tiny screen where he moves the brackets into a LineBased.rfa family. It is actually a choice on the new family list. I wasnt working in that, so maybe you missed it too. Hope that helps.
Oh, and when I named each parameter i used only one word. For some reason adding in the underscores wasnt working for me either.

I can insert the “shade” after loading the “shade” to the new project.
@ 9:20 you mention changing profile parameters from within the bracket browser by right clicking on the imported profile and choosing properties of that profile. The dimension parameters that I have in place for the profile are not showing up in the type properties once it is loaded into the bracket file. I have to change them within the profile and then reload the new profile into the bracket file…any idea why I can’t change them inside the bracket browser?
