The tutorials are great. Can you help me with instructions on how to cut a teardrop shape into a sphere?

Hi Dave,

First of all, thank you very much for the wonderful tutorials. I've not found anywhere else on the internet resources of similar quality and content.

~~~
My 2 Cents : Since I model with splines I tend to use the surface modifier often. This modifier is also useful when importing splines from other CAD applications such as Rhino or Autocad. Working with clean curves then applying a surface give you more control as well as cleaner geometry.
~~~

With respect to the above, I've modelled a surface in Rhino and I'd like to bring it into Max to modify. But I'm having issues creating surfaces quickly in Max with the imported Rhino curves. The curves are imported but have huge amounts of vertices on them. What I'd hope is if you could show how the above is done.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave, it'd be neat to have a "part 2" to this tutorial, showing how you can use the surface modifier to create topography. A lot of folks might not know how easy it is to use splines as level curves and cross section them to get a spline cage ready to be surfaced.

Hi man. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your tutorials, they are a big help. Truly it's past time for there to be some good Max tutorial on regular basis; thanks.
