Hi Dave, I followed this tutorial, but the indent I modeled for where the glass would fit into did no align with the actual curtain wall glazing in the project. I made sure to take into account the interior and exterior layouts. Any hints? Thanks. Great tutorial!

Like Beth I too have the same problem with where the mullions connect. How do you make the mullions join properly at the horizontal and vertical intersections (without any gaps), and how do you create corner mullions?

Thanks

Tried following along in 2010 and got a very different result. . .

It looks like both your horizontal and vertical mullions are continuous. I'm using 2010, and in the edit type properties, under join condition, I only have the option to do one or the other. When I squint at your properties, it looks like you have Join Condition set to undefined - but that doesn't work for me - the whole thing suffers from serious gaposis at the intersections.

Can I use this idea to make the curtain wall as the metal stud framing? And then build a generic 5/8" wall as the "gyp board" to place in front of it?

what if im going to built a specific mullion whare multiple loops are present. the tutorial is good but it only show a single loop. it would be alot better if shows a more detailed element

Great Tutorial! When I make an exterior glazing in Revit 2010, select it, right click and go to the properties, It doesn't have Mullion sections. It only has "constraints, graphics, verical grid pattern..."

Dave - Thanks you for the tutorial.
Q: How do you control the glass plane location within the curtain wall?

Hi again,

If you don't mind me having one more question. To show the 1 hour rated wall we use the dashed line (one dash, one dot and one dash again) for the 2 hour rated wall (one dash, two dots and one dash again) in our office. And the question is:
Is there a way to show the dashed line within the wall?
I am guessing that is something that needs to be added to the wall system family.

Create a 'reveal' sweep, embedded into the wall (by editing the type structure in section view) and anchored to the top. Make this a 5/8" x 1' profile. Assign it to the correct side of the wall and you should end up with a wall that has 1' of GWB shaved off the top of one side. Control this parametrically by altering the profile's height.

It is too bad there is no way to create custom system families. Dave, I am sorry that my question wasn't clear enough.

For instance, you have a basic wall and the wall structure goes like this, on one side 5/8" drywall-6"Metal stud-on the other side you have again 5/8" drywall. What if you want to change the drywall height separately? Are there any way the change drywall height on one side to 8'-0" and the other side to 7'-0" parametrically?

Thank you guys again.

There is no way to create custom system families that are external to a project like window or door components are. System families are changed within the project like a walls type structure for example. System family definitions can be shared between projects using the 'Transfer Project Standards' tool.
