Software : 3ds Max Design 2010
Description :In this 3ds Max 2010 video we’ll cover some of the new modeling tools. I have not had as much time to play with them as I would have liked but I’ll keep using these videos as an excuse to find and learn cool new features. Here we’ll look at some of the tools from Poly Boost that made into 3ds Max 2010 as the “graphite Modeling Tools”

Very helpful tutorial, thanks. Have you experimented with a way to change the basic/original shape of the structure after doing all this detail work in max? The only option I can think of is an FFD modifier and that lacks precision. For example pushing and pulling the shape on a site to see how the windows would change for daylighting. A great next tutorial would be to detail out a wall section, but that might not be possible in max. Thanks again.

is there a modifier-possibility to select all faces if you for example make a cylinder, put a select poly or edit poly modifier, then select all side faces for some inset action - and then mmmm…. maybe some volume select - what i want is to be able to manipulate the initial cylinder geometry - changing the vertical segments for example - and then have the modifier stack affecting my changes … volume select on all that …. ? gonna try it … if you know what i´m thinking about and have some solution for that…would be great…thx for your inspiring tutorials

…unfortunately it does not work with the create topology function….within the graphite modelling tools
…. managed to create a simple geometry … cylinder, volume select, removed top and bottom with deletemesh, another volume select modifier, select by smoothinggroup (4), add edit poly, animate on, inset, delete inner faces, shell …. and can edit all the parameters, like radius, height, height segment, sides … if you apply a ffd-4 you can create interesting shapes with that sort of structural grid…but somehow create topology does not work ;(, hahahaha, if anyone has some workaround…..appreciated..cheers

Yes, its a shame but it is shame that they didn’t improve animation curve editor and character studio.
Camera Tracker no more updates since its coded. Why do we have to use boujou if max have got a tracker? Why do not they do perfection in camera tracker?
Every year, they change only last number, 2008,2009, and 2010. Finally 2010 brought new tools but for modelling and not for animations.((

great tutorial. But can you tell me how can we take this model to Revit and work from there in BIM.
Because when i try to do it it says mesh model cannot derive floor or walls.
