Webinars on DesignReForm?

newswebinarsin

So, we’re thinking about a new endeavor for the DesignReForm community. We’re considering the possibility of broadcasting webinars, probably a handful of times per month. But, before we go any further with this idea, we’d like to know what you think about it!

Here are some questions we have in regards to the webinars, if you’d be interested in having them:

  • What programs would you like to see demonstrated?
  • What modeling topics would you like to see covered?
  • About how long would you like the broadcast to be?
  • Would you like to be able to ask/answer questions during the webcast?

Please leave your answers to these questions, or any other feedback you have, below in the comments section. We want to hear from you and know what you think about the possibility of DesignReForm webinars!

Thanks for your feedback!

    1. the integrated use of different programs for a specific task/project; using ecotect, revit architecture, grasshopper.

    2. complile a idea, think though how to implement using ecotect, grasshopper, then teh beginnings of how to document it.

    3.45-60 mins.

    4. yes.

    Great Idea David!

    1. I want to see more workflows between programs: ecotect to revit, revit to max, anything with Maya.
    2. Work with parametrics and NURBS
    3.60 min.
4.No..as long as the webinar is recorded and archived.

    Love the idea.
    1. Revit
    2. Pushing the boundaries with modeling (not basic things) + API tricks + Rendering with Revit OOTB
    3. 60 mins ok
    4. Suggest 10 min question time at the end of webinar?

    1 DP/CATIA, GH/Rhino
2 (for DP/CATIA) I think the general workflow and project creation + I would love to see how to use “parameters” in a creative way.

I think this is the best web site in the net…
    1) the integrated use of different programs for a specific task/project with 3ds /Rhino/Grasshopper /revit
    2) using this softwares for conceptual model and from conceptual model to differents steps (urbanism massing, , detail facedes)
    3) 45 + 15 debate
    4) possibility to make question only to expert invited
    (….sjmoir , Luigi Coletta …)

    1)grasshopper and revit

2)several webinars. First episode being massing then each episode gets more refined from there. Ending with a panelization webinar

    3)30-60

    4)yes

    Absolutely!!

1-Processing (if you have the capability), Grasshopper, Ecotect, Rhino, revit
2-Performance based design using data in the generation of form.
3- As long as you guys can make them.
    4- Yes

Any techniques that highlight the process of moving from conceptual modeling into BIM for documentation. The AD issue “Closing the Gap” addressed some very relevant topics in this area and it would be nice to get some insight into the workflows.

Thanks for pushing the site to a new level. I look forward to what’s to come.

Could be good, but what would the benefit of these be over the standard recorded tutorials that you can watch as many times as you like?

There is also the issue of people in different time zones wanting to view at the same time…

I love this site and what you guys are doing, but I would personally just rather see loads more tutorials!

Websites like this are the only source of training a lot of us have for certain programs, and we have to find any time we can to watch and learn from the pro’s.

1_I would like to see demonstration for Rhino and Cinema 4D
2_I would like to see topics about parametric modeling
3_I think the broadcast would be long about 3 minutes. If longer (I hope), it would be downloadable (I hope too)
4_I think is not stectly necessary to interact in webinaries.

Thanks for your work, it’s preciuos

    Cool Idea David,thnx for it!
    1. 3Ds Max,

    3. 30-45 min
    4. Yes

    Super idea

1.Different in a same webinars, more than one in a time
2.processing and interactions between different programs, departing from a common topic -such as IFC use or very small design+scheduling “experiments” or whatever-
    3.less than 1h
4.most important part: Q&A should be really fit into the webinar, maybe less demostration and more Q&A could be a good move (different from tutorials)

As superb tutorials already are, most important is to avoid that webinars become such-a-autodesk(R)-demonstration.
I would find interesting the application on real case studies -parametric modeling and analysis of a to-desing tower, for intance

    1) Maya! Cienema 4D ->Archicad !
    2) From 3d form finding to 2d drawings workflow
    3) 60min/7
    4) YES!

    1. Maya | Max | Rhino | Grasshopper
    2. Advanced modeling techniques for conceptual design producing both qualitative and quantitative results.
    3. 60mins or so
    4. Probably not, it is usually a waste of time and a failure. I have seen many of these things and 2 people with intelligent and comedic dialog work best. Any more and its to busy and nothing gets done/learnt, any less and its to ‘lonely’. I would suggest you bring the audience in with a chat room. Have your producer monitor it for a common theme popping up. Address that if you feel its relevant but don’t just take every question that arises.

Happy to respond further by email.

In point 1. - My interest would extend to all applications as long as I am receiving some type of conceptual feedback eg Revit - Solar radiation producing analytical results of form.

People in this contemporary digital design environment need to start understand its not just about a sexy aesthetic. Aesthetics are only skin deep! If you could address that you would be doing a great thing for the digital design community.

great idea as its hard to find real time tutorials for grasshopper. would be a great help

I appreciate the work you’re doing here.

    1)Revit.
    2) Real world/project situations. Building an eyecandy is good, but integrating it in a real project and dealing with the problems is better.
    3) 60 min. seems fine
    4) Maybe after the cast.

    hey,
guys the first question is totally irrelevant as the knowledge in anything and everthing will do there only one issue that i felt was the broadcasts which will be made should be uploaded on net not live interactions as there could will be issue of time zones involved and i would prefer that you upload a broadcast and make a discussion area where we can discuss that broadcasts.
