New Site Design!!!

So the reason I have been so lite on posts lately is I have been working pretty hard on a new design for the site. I hope everyone likes it and it makes it a bit easier to find what you are looking for . Here are a few banners if (please :) ) anyone would like to link to the site. More post and plenty of tutorial are soon to come. Please feel free to comment on the new design, as always any and all feed back is appreciated.

290Mulberry Website Launched

290 Mullberry

The website for 290mulberry has launched. This is a new designed by SHoP Architects. On a more technical note this was our Revit Pilot project. We also used a few other programs to figure out the brick patterning (GC, DP, Rhino, and good old fashion Autocad). I worked a little on translating the original facade drawing package from Acad to Revit. All the Panel we modeled in Revit (minus the bricks). We then built parametric detail components of the brick section that we could use on all the detail drawings. I’ll post a bit on the technical aspects of the project later today. Just wanted to give a heads up on the site for now.

Call for Comments

So…. I’m not getting very many comments on the tutorials and post i make. Please feel free to post comments and request for other topics or videos. I’m always looking for materials to cover. Just as a heads up to anyone visiting the site, the next series of videos will be short videos explaining almost all of the 3ds Max modifiers individually. I may go alphabetically, but I’ll probably do it in order of the modifiers i find most helpful (Shell!!!!). Anyways thanks for checking out the site.

New Forum

So…. I have upgraded the forum software to a new type of forum (SMF or Simple Machine Forum). I am hoping we will have less spam and we gained a few new features like RSS feeds and some extra security.  please feel free to e-mail me with any comments or concerns.

Also i know it looks pretty bad right now but my main concern was getting rid of the spammers.  I’ll be working on the look of it in the coming weeks.

Lastly the forum URL has changed so click the left on the side bar to take you to the new address. Or click right here

Thanks,

Dave

Meshing Assignments

Meshing Assignment 01

DUE DATE: OCTOBER 08, 2007 - Please post your files to the Design ReForm Web site. Post them in the “Meshing Fall 2007″ section of the forum.

ASSIGNMENT: Create a parametric model of a small scale architectural Element (i.e. Furniture, Curtain wall Connection)

REQUIREMENTS: Please do not focus on the precision of the model but rather focus your attention to adding parameters to the design elements of the object that you chose to model. Simple examples can include the bend in an ant chair as well as the radius on the legs, the height or the chair. These are simple yet i feel these parameters will work well to understand the benefits and complexities of parametric modeling.

PRESENTATION: Each student is to post their model (max of maya) on the DesignReForm web site in the “Meshing Fall 2007″ section of the forum
