Bilbao Guggenheim Museum Panel Modeling

Hi, I was perusing a popular Arch forum and came across this question:
"Hello. Now that revit 2009 is out. Is there any1 out there that knows if its possible to create data for shop drawings for the likes of Gherys' bilbao titanium skin facade?"
I thought it would be a cool challenge.
1. How would you go about doing something like this in Revit (If it is possible) as in tre shop drawings for all those panels, sceduling them etc... Or is this something that can only be done in a customized environment or Generative Components type deal?
2. On the easier side can we see a modeling demo in Revit and also 3ds max.

I like this challenge.
Although I know very little about Revit, I have a feeling that it can be done.
I'd like to know all the workarounds involved to make it happen.
It would be nice to first see the modeling in Revit and 3dsmax.
Once done, if you send me the max version of the model, I can use it as visual reference and whip up the same in Inventor, shop drawing included (sans annotations other than dimensions).

I want to start a new section in the Forum for "Modeling Challenges" or "Modeling Projects" "Design Problems" What do you guys think would be the best name for this section?
I'm looking for drawings now so i can start this experiment.
Thanks,
Dave

I wonder if someone at Gehry Partners would be interested...
they could share some construction documents in autocad format, or even just PDFs.
It's worth a try.
Otherwise, when it comes to the panels themselves, I would also recommend close-up photos of the individual units of titanium. I wonder if you know someone that owns a book on Gehry, you'd probably find some pics there.
Here's some pics I found with google, there's quite a few photos there, but very few close-ups.
I found some of these pics here:

I also found this PDF, it talks about the steel work.
It might help somehow, maybe, maybe not.

I have Dennis Sheldon's email. I'll see if he can help out. I'll also look for a book.

What format will the modeling challenge section be? Will it be based on questions posed like the Bilbao museum or will it be competition style like speed modeling challenges?

We are still flushing this out. I rather it not be a competition of any kind. My hope is that it become a new way of designers teaching each other new things. This particular case is a good example. A user posted how how i model the Guggenheim Bilbao. I was planning on making a video in the near future on how i would tackle this. But then things got interesting and Santiago posted that he would try in Inventor. I would be great if a product designer logged on and posted a version in Studio Tools, then an animation modeler in Modo, then Z Brush. Maybe a go in Grasshopper? The goal is to learn from other fields. I hope this makes sense. The idea is still being flushed out. Please feel free to through in your thoughts.
One of my inspirations for putting this together is from reading about Photoshop tennis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoshop_contest#Photoshop_tennis
. This is not totally the same in that we are not exchanging files but i like the logic.
Thanks,
Dave

Very interesting idea
This kind of "think-tank" is very usefull in creative tasks like architecture or general design.
Thanks for this great forum
I will take a look at this post
Best Regards.

I like the idea of it being an open collaboration of ideas from different users.

I'd never heard of photoshop tennis before, then checked the link above from the wikipedia article... some images are kinda hilarious.
I agree, this is not about competition. We all just want to learn, and often learning is better together. I forgot to mention to you Dave that I was an educator for a year in a university back in the day, and I understand your interest in collaborative learning.
Any news with drawings from Gehry?
